So what makes a label different?

An adhesive label is usually composed of five layers from top to bottom, namely, surface, coating, adhesive, silicone layer and backing paper.

The surface refers to the print surface, mainly indicating the print graphics and text; the coating is to bond the adhesive and surface more closely to prevent the penetration of chemical agents; the adhesive is to affix the label paper onto an object, which is decisive for the viscosity and affixing conditions of adhesive labels; the silicone layer is to ensure that the label can be easily separated from lining; and the backing paper is to protect the label from contamination before use and also from bending or curling during processing.

Among the five layers, the surface type and viscosity type have major impact on adhesive labels, which must be taken into account during material selection.
